Reading our bottles when the note list is empty

A published note list is promotional material rather than a formula sheet. In earlier decades, inexpensive fragrances relied on the liquid itself rather than detailed descriptions on the back of the carton.

Of the 39 bottles and packs in our catalog, 15 carry no stated notes whatsoever. That absence simply marks how the listing was registered at the time, not a difference in quality or care.

Across the bottles where materials are named, amber appears on 20 listings, jasmine on 12, and carnation, lavender, and neroli on 9 each. Musk is stated on 6, while citrus, floral, and wood appear on 3 each.

Another 7 notes appear on a single bottle each across the shelves: black currant, gardenia, lemon, osmanthus, pink pepper, rose, and sandalwood. We do not group these single instances into larger patterns.

Jovan Musk for Men and Jovan Musk for Women share a core name on the Jovan Musk shelf of 22 items, yet they are distinct formulas. The men's version lists carnation, lavender, and amber.

The women's bottle lists jasmine, amber, and neroli. Telling our bottles apart comes down to the line name, the stated gender on the carton, and the specific shelf rather than guessing unprinted notes.
